Cove Gallery

Garry Abel  is the Cove Gallery’s featured “Artist of the Month” for September 2017

As an emerging Palette Knife artist, I am so blessed and excited to be able to capture my love of the land and sea through my oil paintings. As an artist, we are inspired in so many ways. For me it starts with looking to the sky and being amazed by the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Nature offers the images and I work to translate the vision to canvas

Come meet Garry in person at the September Laguna First Thursday Art Walk Reception on Thursday, September 7th, 2017 from 6 – 9 pm in the Cove Gallery.

Discover Emerging Artists Showcase

Come join us on Art Walk night to enter a raffle for a FREE artwork, get a FREE caricature, and enjoy wine and cookies!

You will also have the opportunity to view the works of and meet our featured artist for the month of September – Jess Krichelle.

Jess Krichelle is a Los Angeles based artist specializing in minimalistic figure drawings. Jess starts out each piece by applying her pen to the paper and drawing whatever she is feeling at the moment. It is the anticipation of the unknown (and the help of some unintended mistakes) that ends up creating pieces that would have never existed if she planned out her sketches before beginning. The result ends up being figures that are stark, and that openly invite the viewer to interpret the pieces – both figuratively and literally.

Michael Heintz Photography

September 20 – October 21

Michael Heintz, a long time Laguna Beach area artist presents a series of photographs juxtaposing automotive remnants of the past frozen in stunning natural landscapes. The desolate environments are perfect settings for these automobiles to be used in creating compositions. They are now silent and deteriorated, becoming studies of forms and surface patinas due to the extremes of weather and age.

Michael’s artwork has been shown in both, Festival of Arts and Sawdust Festival, locally, and is in collections throughout the United States.

A photograph in the exhibit, Joe’s at 20 Below, is in the Festival of Arts Permanent Art Collection.

The Redfern Gallery

40 New Works: American Impressionists

This important exhibition includes a masterwork titled, “The Canyon Road”, by William Wendt dated 1932 along with forty recently acquired paintings including; Benjamin Brown, Granville Redmond, Dana Bartlett, Donna Schuster, Lawton Parker, Edgar Payne, Paul Lauritz and more.

Many paintings are of the historical California landscape reminiscent of days past. Such scenery can be enjoyed today away from the city where one can enjoy the open country much like it was at the turn of the century.   Painted in the impressionist style, each brush stroke brings forth the artists quick spontaneous energy of this magnificent scenery.

Often these artists studied in Europe and some lived in the famous village of Giverny, France where the master French Impressionist, Claude Monet lived and painted. “The Rose Arbor” by Lawton Parker and “Garden, Versailles France” by Dana Bartlett are magnificent paintings included in the exhibit. Join us to for the end of summer art walk.

Featured painting: William Wendt (1865-1946), “The Canyon Road”, dated 1932, oil on canvas, 30 x 36 inches
